Fishing season isn’t over!!

Hotel Buenavista Beach Resort

October 11-18

Water temps continued in the low to mid-80s.

The air temps were consistent in the mid- 80s to mid-90s. Winds blew intermittently from the north.

It was a great week for fishing. Lots of wahoo, but hooking them and catching them are two different matters.  Schools of both dorado and tuna were spotted south of La Ribera while billfish were seen near Cabo Pulmo Park.  As for bait, the sardina supply is holding steady – good news for anglers, bad news for fish.

Both inshore and offshore anglers enjoyed some spectacular days punctuated by plenty of tugs:

John Daly and Randy Simmons, fly-fishers from Olympia, Wash. and Bend, Ore., fishing aboard hotel cruiser Regina, landed both yellowfin tuna and dorado.

Stuart and Elisa Reubens from San Francisco were aboard Tres Hermanos for a bunch of tuna in the 35-pound range.

Erik Lenz and George Mcyntire aboard Dottie BII caught and released two blue marlin.

Jerry Metz and friends aboard Vagabundo had a great two-day fishing trip landing tuna and two released marlin.

Jeff DeBrown and his son got to spend some fishing time together aboard Tres Hermanos with the Los Pollos crew landing dorado, skipjack and red snapper.

Grant,Tyler & Daniel Oepkes along with Todd Gomes-Aviv aboard Dottie BII spent three days of fishing landing tuna, dorado, red snapper plus they released a marlin.

Fred Groghan, Mark Hamlin, Thomas McLane and Mike Whelan from Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. aboard Vagabundo with the Cota brothers’ crew, Chayo and Santiago, landing not one but TWO beautiful sailfish!
