Fishing in a word: Great!

June 14-20 Report

Hotel Buenavista Beach Resort

Everything is shaping up as the ideal summer with temperatures in the low- to high-80s.  Breezes up to about 7 knots.

Water temps were in the low-80s.

Both hotel cruisers and pangas scored on yellowfin tuna, dorado, marlin, and roosterfish; add to the mix plenty of aquatic wildlife viewing with turtles, manta rays, schools of breezing dolphin; plus Mako, hammerhead and thresher sharks.

Fishing in a word:  Great!

Tracie Sandoval, fishing aboard Vagabundo with Chayo and Santiago Cota, caught both striped marlin and tuna.

Gary and Trent Stiefvater, Chico, Calif. (third year return guests) had a knockout day aboard Dottie BII with a crew of Vicente Cosio and Marco. They doubled up on nice-size yellowfin tuna and dorado.

John Miller joined Gary Stiefvater aboard Dottie BII for six wahoo with two released and a nice tuna. Six ’hoo in one day is monumental.

Jaime Sandoval, Tracie Sandoval, Tammie Tirres and Rebecca Reyes from Austin, Texas got their load of tuna while fishing aboard (These were wedding guests; see below.)

Rick and Ami Ann Mellish, Denisse Gonzalez and Noemi Venavidez, more wedding guests, fishing aboard Marlintini with Chico and Victor, had a great day playing with our tuna.

Jason Hummel (the groom), Adriana Gallardo-Hummel (the bride) and Carson Hanks from Austin, Texas fished on the Calereste with Julio and Luis, landing more than a dozen dorado.

John Allbaugh from Manteca, Calif. in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, put the hurt on a school of dorado while fishing aboard Liliana with skipper and mate Marcos and Geovanni.

Good times flowed as Jason Hummel and Adriana Gallardo-Hummel celebrated their wedding.  The Hummel Family has been visiting Baja for more than 30 years, so it was appropriate that they chose Hotel Buenavista Beach Resort for the ceremony and festivities.
